Situated on the slopes of the Great Dividing Range, Kinglake National Park provides stunning vistas of Melbourne and the surrounding plains, Port Phillip Bay, the Yarra Valley, and the You Yangs. The north-south spurs, rising to approximately 400-500m, are interspersed with valleys through which streams flow, cascading down to the lowlands before reaching the Yarra River. The majority of the park is covered by tall, arid eucalypt forests, with cool, fern-filled gullies, rolling hills, and picturesque waterfalls like Masons Falls being noteworthy features.
