Walks in The Lakes National Park

Located in the Gippsland Lakes area, the park is situated on the shores of Lakes Victoria and Reeve, surrounded by low-lying woodland and coastal heath. The park covers Sperm Whale Head Peninsula, as well as Rotamah and Little Rotamah islands, with Ninety Mile Beach serving as the outer barrier. This beach is considered one of the world’s longest unbroken stretches of sand. Due to constant wave and wind action, the dunes are constantly changing. The park also includes 60km of salt-water lakes, making it the largest inland water system in the Southern Hemisphere, protected from the pounding surf of Bass Strait by Ninety Mile Beach.
